The Role:

We are looking for outstanding Deputy Head Primary Teaching and Learning to join our existing team from September 202.

The Deputy Head Teacher will work with the Head Teacher to maintain an environment that promotes and secures excellent teaching, effective learning, high standards of achievement and excellent behaviour.

The Deputy Head Teacher will:

- Provide a clear educational direction for the school.

- Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of policies that promote effective professional practice and define curriculum content.

- Work in partnership with the Head Teacher in the assessment of pupils and in monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching.

- Lead teaching and learning throughout the school and model best practice in school.

2020/21 Alex Otti Foundation (AOF) Scholarship Award For Abia State Residents

The Alex Otti Foundation (AOF) calls for applications from interested candidates for the Foundation’s Tertiary Education Scholarships for the 2020/2021 academic session.

The scholarship scheme was established as part of the Alex Otti Foundation’s programmes which seek to assist indigent students resident in Abia State with financial support to facilitate their educational pursuits.

The scholarship is to help very bright and hardworking students in all the local governments across Abia, who have been admitted into tertiary institutions across Nigeria, by paying their tuition from when they win the scholarship until they graduate – so long as they maintain a certain Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The financial support aims to mitigate the financial challenges students face in the course of their studentship.

The scholarship is funded by Dr Alex Otti, who himself finished with a First-Class degree in Economics, and emerged the university-wide best graduating student of his set at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. His success and wealth of experience in Banking, Oil and Gas, Hospitality, Construction and Telecoms will serve as a great motivation for the winners, who will have a luncheon with him, once every year, until they graduate.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of strong personal academic background, leadership potential and a demonstrated desire to use the acquired knowledge to contribute to the development of both Abia State and Nigeria. Winners will be expected to, upon completion of their studies, apply their talents and knowledge in improving the lives of others. Over time, it is expected that the Alex Otti Scholarship beneficiaries will form a strong network of leaders who will individually and collectively contribute to the wellbeing of Abia State in particular, and Nigeria in general.

Successful candidates will be required to maintain a CGPA of, at least, 3.5 – for those studying in universities (or its equivalent, for those in other tertiary institutions) every academic session to continue to enjoy the scholarship till they graduate.

This year’s application is for the 2020/2021 academic session; and is open to indigent students resident in Abia State, who are currently enrolled in government-owned tertiary institutions.

WHO CAN APPLY?

  • Students who are currently in 2nd-year (200 Level) in any government-owned tertiary institution in Nigeria.
  • Candidate must have had at least a CGPA of 3.5 – for universities (or its equivalent, for other tertiary institutions) in his/her first academic session (that is, First Year).

WHO SHOULD NOT APPLY?

  • Siblings (that is children who share the same parents) of current Alex Otti Foundation scholars are not eligible and will not be until their sibling’s current scholarship runs its full course.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must submit statement of result for first academic session (that is, First Year) signed by the Department/Faculty’s Admin Officer (who rightfully is a representative of the registrar in the department or faculty).
  • Candidates must present letter of recognition by their community/religious group leader or electricity utility bill of the last three months, to prove he/she currently resides in Abia State.
  • Candidates must submit a 900-word brief essay explaining: (a) why they deserve the scholarship, (b) their leadership qualities, and (c) how their education will benefit Abia State and Nigeria in the future.
  • Candidates must provide valid means of identification.

  • Document good practice, analyze trends, and cross-cutting implementation issues.
  • Provide support in the oversight of data quality control and review.
  • Ensure the periodic reports are made publicly available on the DCR Ambassadors web page.
  • Provide any other required assistance and guidance to the M&E unit; this includes working with external evaluators in the implementation of impact evaluation missions, responding to Donor’s requests for information: data sources, data measurement methods, frequency of data collection, disaggregation, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy, Social development, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation activities.

  • Prepare and submit expenditure and programme budget status reports;
  • Prepare recurring reports as scheduled and special reports as required for budget preparations and audit;
  • Undertake other financial and administrative tasks on an ad hoc basis.
  • Arrange for equipment maintenance and insurance as required; in accordance with the Work Plan arranged for procurement of equipment, supplies and services;

  • Collect, register, and maintain all information on project activities;
  • Advise all project counterparts on applicable administrative procedures and ensures their proper implementation;
  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of progress reports;
  • Prepare agendas and arrange field visits, appointments, and meetings both internal and external related to the project activities and write minutes from the meetings;
  • Prepare routine correspondence and memoranda for the Executive Director's signature;
  • Receive, screen, and distribute correspondence and attach necessary background information.
  • Follow-up on timely disbursements by donors/prime partner;
  • Assist in the preparation of payments requests for operational expenses, salaries, insurance, etc. against project budget and work plan;
  • Support the preparations of project work-plan and operational and financial planning processes;
  • Monitor project activities, budget and financial expenditures and maintain a proper record of approved project budgets and their revisions;
  • Prepare and submit expenditure and programme budget status reports;
  • Prepare recurring reports as scheduled and special reports as required for budget preparations and audit;
  • Undertake other financial and administrative tasks on an ad hoc basis.
  • Arrange for equipment maintenance and insurance as required; in accordance with the Work Plan arranged for procurement of equipment, supplies, and services;
  • Ensure that contractual processes follow the stipulated procedures;
  • Physically clear and ensure delivery of equipment and supplies procured for the various programme sites;
  • Supervise and manage the program team to ensure conformity to the project goals and deliverables.
  • Assist PM in ensuring project activities are executed successfully, completed within time frames and project scope meets program objectives.
  • Assist PM in ensuring timely writing of program reports for review and thereafter onward submission to Programs Coordinator and the donor as stipulated in subcontract agreement; provide input to manuscripts for publication and presentations as necessary

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must have a degree in Public Administration, Project Management, or other relevant social science or art course, certificate in project management, social work and development, with significant relevant work experience in conflict-affected areas are additional advantages.
  • 2 years of program management experience, preferably in insecure locations,
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in gender, advocacy, and women empowerment issues with additional understanding of Gender-Based Violence(GBV) and Violence Against Women and Girls(VAWG)
  • Demonstrated experience working with international organizations and systems/regulations in gender programming and gender mainstreaming.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The M&E Assistant will work closely with all program staff in the field to implement the DCR Ambassadors Borno M&E commitments, improve program quality through enhanced data management systems and processes. The position will support measurement in the Field Office.The Assistant will support the M&E officer in managing day to day M&E tasks arising in the Field Office and providing technical support to field teams to ensure effective implementation of projects. The M&E Assistant will assist the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer in the discharge of his/her duties, while he/she reports to the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, they both report to the Program Coordinator. The M&E Assistant will work hand in hand with the M&E Officer and PM and management team to provide oversight to program implementation including strategic, programmatic, and technical.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in routine data collection and entry for various interventions implemented in the field and ensure that complete, accurate, clean and consistent data is shared with the M&E Officer for data analysis and action planning.
  • Ensure proper filing of M&E documents including questionnaires, monitoring reports, datasets among others
  • Participate in regular data verification and audit exercises to assess the quality of data reported and address any anomalies identified
  • Submit to the M&E Officer weekly and monthly updates on M&E activities conducted in the field
  • With support from the M&E Officer, participate capacity building and mentorship activities for field staff in data collection and cleaning
  • Keep the M&E database up to date and help program staff prepare periodic high quality reports
  • Assist program staff during survey planning and implementation especially preparing logistics needed, participating in data collection and cleaning 
  • Foster good relationships and team spirit with program and operations staff in the field

  • Ensure completeness of supporting documents in all respect which includes authenticity of signatures, cross-checking attendance sheets, and verifying payments made to beneficiaries
  • Posting all vouchers into transaction spreadsheet on daily basis for review by the Finance Officer and ensure that all information in the spreadsheet is correct and complete.
  • Processing of petty cash transactions on daily basis and ensure petty cash is replenished on time to meet daily cash needs.
  •  Carry out cash count as per the DCR Ambassadors’ policy and schedule and document the cash count sheets for records.
  • Prepare all payments and make sure that they are properly coded and supported with relevant necessary documents.
  • Assist Finance office in monthly bank & account reconciliation.
  • Ensure all the financial documents are properly filed and Paid stamping of all the invoices and related documents before filing.
  • Ensure timely preparation of tax challan& deposit into the bank.
  • Visit the Bank for necessary collection & submission of financial documents.
  • Photocopies & scanning of all necessary documents/Instruments.
  • Perform any other task assign by the line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS  AND  SKILLS

  • Minimum of degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years of Finance experience preferably in NGO is mandatory.

[Important] Link Your NIN or Your SIM Card might be Blocked

THE NCC DIRECTIVE ON SIM-NIN REGISTRATION DEADLINE; ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW



The Federal government, through the NCC has given 2 weeks (from 16th to 30th December, 2020) for us to ensure that all phone numbers in Nigeria have a National Identity Number (NIN).

According to the directive, all SIMs that are not linked with NIN will be blocked.

In all fairness, this requirement had been gazetted since 2017 in the “Mandatory Use of the National Identification Number (NIN) Regulations of 2017”, but we all ignored it. So, it’s actually been a 3-year time grace that the government gave us.


The requirement would help us all to secure our country better.

10 things to note down about the new NCC directive.

If your phone number is not linked to Your NIN by 30th of December 2020, your line would be blocked!

For those who already have a NIN, You can get your NIN by dialing *346# from the phone number you supplied during your NIN registration.

You actually no longer need a physical national I.D card, what you need is just to have your NIN (which is just the number). This is the new trajectory of the government. Remember that for BVN, most people also don’t have a card.

If you already have a BVN, you may already likely have a NIN even if you have never physically gone to register for a NIN (especially if your BVN starts with 221 or 222), this has been made possible because of the great collaboration between NIMC (National Identity Management Commission) and NIBSS (Nigeria Interbank Settlement System)PLC. You may be able to ask your bank to confirm for you. As a matter of fact, for those who use GTB, you can log into your account online or the bank app to check for your NIN by yourself (please note that this is not an advert for any bank).

NIMC has now licensed over 150 companies/entities that can carry out NIN enrollment all over the Country, so NIN enrollment would be faster now, unlike when it was only NIMC carrying out the enrollment. This is called the “Ecosystem Approach”.

You also can tie your single NIN to all your phone numbers. Same way you tied ur single BVN to all your account numbers.

To link your NIN to your MTN number, all you need to do is dial *785#. For those who are in diaspora (and so can’t dial the USSD), you can use the URL https://mtnonline.com/nim/.

For Airtel users dial *121#, then select NIN capture. You can do it online via https://www.airtel.com.ng/nin

For GLO users; Send “UPDATENIN NIN FirstName LastName” to 109 e.g. UPDATENIN 12345678901 Olamide Abe (**Your Surname is your Last Name) or https://www.gloworld.com/ng/nin

For 9mobile users; *200*8# or https://9mobile.com.ng/nin/

If the phone number you used for the NIN registration has changed or is missing, you need to update your record with NIMC.

Your submitted NIN would be validated. If your data with the Telco doesn’t match with your NIN data, you would have to sort that out while your sim may be temporarily disabled.

The sale of new SIMs have been suspended till further notice, so no one can purchase any new SIM for now.

This move by the NCC may cause us slight discomfort, but it’s something we should all support and commit to, for our own safety security.
